Colonial Behavioral Health, in partnership with the York/Poquoson Victim/Witness Assistance Program, is hosting a unique awareness event in honor of domestic violence awareness month. The event, Pawsibilities: People and Pets Against Violence, is aimed at raising awareness of the links between abusive behavior/relationships, animal abuse and mental illness.
Pawsibilities will be held on Saturday, October 13th from 9 a.m. to 1p.m. at New Quarter Park, Shelter 4, 1000 Lakeshead Drive in Williamsburg (Queenslake). Rain date October 14 from 1 to 5 p.m.
The cost is $6 per family or single registrant, and all proceeds will benefit four local non-profits: Avalon, Center for Sexual Assault Survivors, Pawsitively Precious Adoptions and Ring Dog Rescue. Register online at: www.colonialbh.org/paws
Each non-profit will have information tables along with several other vendors from the community. Activities will include a dog walk, adoptable dogs, doggie costume contest, crafts for kids of all ages, a raffle and more. Food will be available for purchase from Williamsburg Concession and Catering. Gift certificates from area merchants such as Go Ape, Serenity Nail and Spa, the Virginia Living Museum and Williamsburg Cupcake will be raffled or given as prizes for various contests.
